Alice took a small bite of a small mushroom and shrunk down to a size even smaller than them.
"Come live with us as the Smurfs do," said one of the now huge mushrooms.
Alice wasn't sure that was such a good idea, so she took another bite out of one of these mushroom houses.
After she grew big, Alice looked down at the tiny mushroom village and thought she would like to be very far away.
The mushrooms said, "Where will you go? Who will you visit?"
Maybe she should visit the other side of the world. The mushrooms whispered their farewell to the wind. Soon it was down, down, down the rabbit hole.
I'll talk to you later.

Alice And The Mushrooms
The mushroom said to Alice, "Come closer, and I will tell you the tale of The Everyday Adventurer."
But when Alice moved closer a rabbit hole opened up and Alice fell in. Down, down, down went Alice past the center of the earth. Alice fell all the way to the other side.
When Alice looked around this new place on the other side of the world she saw another mushroom that looked strangely like the first.
When Alice looked down at it, the mushroom whispered to her, "Come closer and I will tell you about My Journey to get here." Alice was confused, but she liked this new mushroom.
The two mushrooms were brothers from opposite sides of the world.
I'll talk to you later.

Alice And The Frozen Dragons
I want to take you back some years to one of my more popular adventures with my old friend Alice who has now gone off to Wonderland to have exciting adventures of her own. I still hear from her now and then about some of the fun things she's doing now, but those are stories for her to tell.
What is it that Alice is staring at? While I was walking down the new walkway, I saw her looking at something off to the side of the railing. I wondered if she spotted a duck or something walking around down there.
She seemed pretty interested in what it was because when I asked her she didn't seem to hear me for a second. I asked her again and she said to come and take a look. I wasn't sure what I would find because she has a habit of dragging parts of Wonderland along with her on our trips.
As I got closer, I noticed something big and dark down there. It wasn't moving so I knew I needed to find out what was going on. We had not seen any animals out here yet, so I didn't think it was anything that might be alive.
When I got there all I saw were these broken tree branches that were half submerged in the ice of the lake. For some reason they looked strangely familiar though. I couldn't figure it out, and I didn't know why Alice was so interested in them.
She said that winter is a bad time for them. I asked her what she was talking about. She said that some of the dragons didn't like the cold, and they easily froze to death unless they found shelter. I told her that it was only a piece of wood.
She said that wood was what dragons turned into when they died. She said that this one must have been swimming around in the lake when it froze. Now it is stuck there forever, but none of the rest of us know that this wood used to be a dragon.
Here's another poor unfortunate dragon that peaked up out of it's den at the wrong time. Alice spotted this one right away too. She walked over to check on it, and said that it was now turned into wood too.
I asked her if she knew why they turned into wood. She looked at me as if I were stupid and said, "Because they're dead." I thought right then that I should go get the Red Queen after her. That would teach her a lesson.
Instead, I asked again, why is it wood that they turn into when they die? Then she finally explained that it was because they dried out and became petrified. That was also the reason why we never find any dead dragons lying around.
I guess that answered that question. Now we all know what happens to dragons when they die, right from the thoughts of Alice. I wonder if she'll see any other interesting creatures on our next trip together.

Down The Rabbit Hole
What you are about to read is my second adventure with my old friend Alice. She was a real life little girl back then who had an odd habit of duplicating a good old story. Now she is all grown up and these adventures are just a memory. I never completely showed her in my pictures to protect her anonymity.
Alice was considering in her own mind (as well as she could, for the day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.
There was nothing so very remarkable in that, nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself, "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" But when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket and looked at it and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and, burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole, under the hedge. In another moment, down went Alice after it!
- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
I liked having Alice with me at Orchard Lake Nature Sanctuary, so I invited her to come along with me to Heritage Park. After a while we came to a particularly nice area, and Alice said, "Look, a rabbit!" I told her we should be very quiet so we could get some pictures of it. I said the pictures might not be very good though, because we might not be close enough.
She said, "I can get really close to it. I've done this before with rabbits." I asked her where she saw a rabbit before. She said, "In my back yard. I know how to get right up next to them." Then she proceeded to try to sneak up on it. There it went, with Alice right behind.
I told her it wasn't working with this one, but she insisted that she could get closer. The rabbit continued to move away as she pursued hot on it's heels.
I was taking as many pictures as I could as the rabbit moved away. Alice kept after it, and I told her maybe she should stop. She said, "No, really, I can do it." But the rabbit was quickly moving away now. Maybe I could get one last picture.
Well, I got half of a picture. The rabbit then ran into the forest. Alice went to plunge right in after it when I told her more firmly now to stop. She finally stopped and said, "I can still see it. If I go in there I can chase it back out so we can get more pictures." I told her not to do it because we don't want to scare it anymore. She eventually reluctantly agreed, and I said, "Let's sit down and rest. This is a nice place."
As we sat down on one of these benches, I thought to myself that if she would have gone into the forest after that rabbit I probably wouldn't have been able to keep up with her. I was glad I was able to get her to stop. Wow, I'm tired. What is it with Alice and rabbits?
You know, when I started this Everyday Adventurer thing, I never thought I'd find myself in Wonderland.
I'll talk to you later.

Advice From A Caterpillar
I'm a little short on adventures lately so I decided to introduce you to an old friend. I often found myself oddly in Wonderland with my little friend along. It was a kind of joy seeing a little kid love nature so much. I'll revisit some of our adventures whenever I get the chance between my newer ones. This one is from back in the summer of 2008.
"Who are you?" said the Caterpillar.
Alice replied, rather shyly, "I-I hardly know, sir, just at present-at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have changed several times since then."
"What do you mean by that?" said the Caterpillar, sternly. "Explain yourself!"
"I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, sir," said Alice, "because I'm not myself, you see-being so many different sizes in a day is very confusing." She drew herself up and said very gravely, "I think you ought to tell me who you are, first."
- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
I thought this blue caterpillar reminded me of something. The top picture is the size we saw it when we first arrived. In the bottom picture it got just a little bit bigger. You can see all the little details, even it's legs clinging to the leaf. Maybe you're thinking, "Here's the blue caterpillar, but where's Alice?"
Of course the blue caterpillar is in these two pictures. You can't see Alice because she's standing just to my left, trying to get her own picture of the caterpillar. She probably doesn't know that she's Alice, but I can see by the look on her face that she does know that she's standing right in the middle of Wonderland.

Alice and the Toad Prince
It has been a long time since I last had a visit from my little friend Alice. I was finally able to drag her away from her favorite cartoon, Scooby Doo, so she could go on a short hike with me. I thought she might like to see some of the warm weather animals I've been visiting in one of my favorite nature parks.
We were in luck because there were many of them that came out to see Alice for the first time. It's not every day that you get to meet a big star from Wonderland like Alice, so I think most of the animals were pretty excited. I didn't see that evil squirrel Mr. Nutz out there anywhere though. I think he's afraid of her.
A black squirrel greeted us at the front of the park, but it ran as soon as I tried to get its picture. Next were the young geese that I've been watching. They thought Alice was about the best creature they had ever seen, so they swam over to see her. Even the cormorant lake monster was there. I was glad because I know Alice had never seen that before.
After visiting with many of the animals at this nature park, and getting another look at the dam, Alice and I headed back to the trail. As we were walking back through the darkest part of the forest a big toad hopped over to the side of the trail and stopped and stared at Alice.
I was the first one to see it so I looked at her and asked her if she wanted to see a toad. She likes all animals so we stopped to see this new wonder. As I began taking my pictures of this toad I told Alice to pick it up. She of course refused. I teased her and told her if she kissed this toad it would turn into a prince.
Little Alice looked at me and said that all that would happen is that the toad would pee on her and give her warts. She then said she would beat it up if it turned into a prince anyway. Just like me, little Alice is Irish, and that's how we handle just about everything. So since I didn't want a punch in the stomach I decided that we should probably move on our way.
I looked back once at this poor toad still waiting there beside the trail. I guess it would never know what it would be like to be a prince. Alice was probably right that there would be no prince, because it was actually a frog in the old story that became a prince. Maybe this toad was just trying to fool us.
Alice quickly forgot this incident, but she did like seeing all of the animals, even the toad. I think she was probably glad that the snakes didn't come out to meet her though. As we arrived back at the front of the park Alice happily began practicing her skipping. She had been having trouble learning that, so she's glad she figured it out.
After we had seen all of the animals and flowers we could, and after Alice got to pick out a very good stick to wave around at her brother, we decided it was time to go. I took Alice back to Wonderland so she could go back to watching her cartoons. She likes going on adventures, but she really likes her cartoons just a little bit more.

One Whole Year
I started this blog one year ago today. I've never done a post about milestones before, and I probably won't do any more. The subject of the blog is not about me. It's about the everyday adventures I have, and the fact that we can all do many of these things. I just simply try to be a guide to a world of discovery.
What I'm going to show you for this one special day are some pieces of my posts from the past. Some of them you may already know, and some you may not. Some of the very earliest are actually the whole post because I wasn't yet very comfortable with my writing. Now I have trouble keeping things short.
I hope you will like this look back through the past. This is going to be a long one, so you don't have to look at everything or even click the links, but you can if you want to. This is only meant to be a fun look at what was. I'll start with my very first post...
Hi to anyone seeing this. This is my first post. In upcoming posts, I will look at nature trails and show locations of a few of my favorites. Nature trails are some of the best free adventures you can find. As time goes on I will show different places to see, and the writing will get better. Any comments are of course welcome.
-

I was walking along this trail and there it was. It was standing there as if it were posing for me. My first deer! This is why I'm doing this. What a great feeling this is. I only got two similar shots and when I looked again it was gone. This is what makes a great adventure, and something positive that adds to the improving story of my life.
-
In this picture is something really different than I expected to see. I'm usually on the lookout for an animal or a cool looking plant in these nature areas, but as I always tell people, the fun part of an everyday adventure is that I never know what I'm going to see.
-
"Who are you?" said the Caterpillar.
Alice replied, rather shyly, "I-I hardly know, sir, just at present-at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have changed several times since then."
-
What do you think the first thing I saw was, when I got to Sumac Pointe? That's right, it was these Geese! They saw me as soon as I saw them. I figured I should walk slowly so as not to alarm them. No need.
-
I've been taking a lot of pictures of deer lately. As I've encountered them more and more, I've learned a few techniques that help me get pretty close to them. I've learned some of these from other sources, and some I figured out from experience. Some of these are a combination of both.
-
This is my very first attempt to go hiking in the snow. I didn't get very far, but I got some pictures of it. All of that white mist you see in the air is snow. It was snowing really hard out here! The wind was blowing very hard, and it was probably a bad time to try this. I know I'll be doing it again, it was fun!
-
It's Game Time...
A while back I had a little game here. There was a squirrel hiding in a photo, and I asked everyone to guess where the squirrel was. It was a fun experiment for me, and I think the squirrel had some fun too. A few of you might remember it, but most of you weren't here yet. So I decided to do it again.
-
That does it!!! I'm taking over this blog! Ratty is going too far, and it's time for some squirrel to put a stop to it. So this website belongs to us squirrels now. Now I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Mr. Nutz, and I represent all the poor defenseless little squirrels.
-
It's time once again for a tour through nature, with your ever humble guide, Ratty, The Everyday Adventurer. It's time to take you to the magnificence of new Spring, and the wonders of life. I will show you the odd, the bizarre, the geese!
-
I promised yesterday that I would show you some of the pictures of the birds I took when I found a new boardwalk nature preserve. I decided not to wait to show you my absolute favorite. I have many more pictures that are every bit as good, so you may like some of those even better.
-
These were some of the highlights of the past year here on The Everyday Adventurer. There are many more in the archives. This ends my longest post ever, I hope you liked it anyway. Now we can begin the second year.

Alice's Acorns
I had a couple of guests on my hike today. Alice made a typical Alice-like return, and Jack decided he wanted to come along too this time. I'll bet nobody that read about Jack thought he was real. He is, but the stories about him haven't been so far, because there has been nothing to tell yet.
Any time I have guests along on a hike, I have to alter the way I do things. For one thing, I know I won't be sneaking up on any animals when there is so much noise from other people. They don't do it on purpose, but they just don't know how to be as quiet as I do.
We did get to pass by the noisy frogs I've been hearing lately. Alice looked for the frogs and asked a few questions about them, while Jack seemed kind of uninterested. He was mostly putting on an act because he didn't want to seem uncool by liking nature too much. At least he came along, so that's a good start for him.
When we got to squirrel territory, I told them that the reason the squirrels liked it here was because there were plenty of acorns to eat. There were empty eaten acorns laying all over the place here, but we only saw a few squirrels. None of them came very close. We were just too easy for them to spot.
Alice began picking up the old acorn tops that she was finding along the way. It's the kind of thing a kid should do. She also had a pocket full of rocks from a few of her other adventures. Jack remained mostly silent throughout most of this, but he wasn't complaining. If you knew him, you'd know that's encouraging.
After awhile a man with two unleashed dogs came into the nature preserve. That pretty much killed the idea that we would see any wild animals today. The dogs came running up to us, and one of them made a small huffing sound at Alice, so I shooed it away.
The dog came back again in a few minutes, a little friendlier, so Alice tried to feed it an acorn top. The dog really wasn't interested. It mostly just wanted to greet it's new found friends. Even though dogs are my favorite animal, I didn't really appreciate it when it came back a third time soaking wet and shaking water on us.
After the man and his dogs finally left we made an attempt to find some wildlife, with no luck at all. We ended up slowly making our way back out of the park. Before we left, Alice asked if she could take a few pictures of her now beloved acorn tops. There they are at the top of this post.

Alice Caught The Rabbit
I was sitting at home peacefully watching TV yesterday, when suddenly my front door burst open! Before I could even turn my head to look, I heard little girl laughter. As you have already guessed, Alice had returned!
The first thing she said was, "I caught the rabbit! I caught the rabbit!" Then she began laughing again. As I sat there staring at her in confusion, Alice and her guest, Mother Goose walked in all the way. After a few more seconds, I finally asked her what she was talking about. She told me that before they came here she took some pictures of a rabbit, and she wanted to let me know that I was wrong.
I asked her what I was wrong about. So she told me that I said she couldn't catch a rabbit, but she did it. The last time I was with her, and she chased a rabbit, I stopped her from running into the woods after it. Here's a link to that from one of my earliest posts featuring Alice, and it's one of the incidents where I found out that she was from Wonderland: Down The Rabbit Hole
Alice then asked if she could write another post, so she could tell everyone about it. I told her that she could write part of a post, and I would write the rest. So this was my part. The next part is another special message from Alice, along with her pictures of the rabbit that she caught.
Hello again. In case you were wondering it’s Alice again! I have a special story for you. First I want to tell you, Ratty was wrong about me not being able to catch the rabbit!
Mother Goose and I were walking along, and I looked over in the bushes and spotted a little rabbit sitting there. I pointed it out to Mother Goose. We both agreed that it was the rabbit from my home in Wonderland!
I had Mother Goose give me the camera, and I took four pictures of him. Two pictures are better than the other two. The rabbit kept moving so it was hard, but I managed to get him. So it couldn’t have been too hard. There were two nice people that waited for me to take the picture. The whole time all I thought was I have to get that rabbit so I can prove Ratty wrong!
It was early evening and dark. I didn’t want to scare him so I turned the flash off. His eyes were red when I looked through the camera and now they look like they are glowing. He really blended into the ground so that’s why the picture is so dark, but I still was determined to catch him and I did!
Okay, that's her story. After she emailed it to me, I fixed her grammar just a little bit, and made the photos a little easier to see. She says that she caught that rabbit, and even though I'm still skeptical about it, Ill agree that she did. What do you think? Did she catch it?

The first thing she said was, "I caught the rabbit! I caught the rabbit!" Then she began laughing again. As I sat there staring at her in confusion, Alice and her guest, Mother Goose walked in all the way. After a few more seconds, I finally asked her what she was talking about. She told me that before they came here she took some pictures of a rabbit, and she wanted to let me know that I was wrong.

Alice's Little Deer
The problem was that I wanted to be the one to show you the deer. So when I saw that she had picked that one, I was extremely disappointed. Still, I would rather be the one that was disappointed than her, so I didn't say anything. I just let her show the photo, because I wanted her to be happy.
I was glad I didn't spoil anything for her, because as it turned out, she was very happy and proud of her post. It was the only time I ever let anyone else write anything on here, and she knew it. She had been going out on those trails with me since before I had this blog, so when she asked to write a post here, I knew that it was the right thing to do.
Well, that is one of Alice's favorite things. It's the real reason she likes to go on the hiking trips with me. Alice is a very curious little girl, and very much like the Alice in the stories, so she immediately wanted to go.
The road is an old dirt road, and we had no idea what to expect. When I turned my truck onto it, I noticed immediately that the road went uphill right around a blind corner. It wasn't a very wide road either, so I had to drive carefully. I was watching out for any vehicles coming from the other direction when I saw it.
It seems after not seeing any animals at all at Carpenter, Alice's magic of Wonderland began to work again! There was that little deer walking around in the trees by the side of the road. I pointed it out to Alice, and she immediately wanted to stop and get some pictures. But I couldn't do it, because of the blind turn we were on. So we kept on going.
So we drove back out hoping that our little deer was still there. I knew the road by now, so I knew I could stop safely. As we approached the spot where we saw the deer, I began to drive very slowly, looking out for it. Sure enough there it was, still in the same area, but further back in the trees.
I stopped the truck and began taking as many pictures of it as I could before another car came, or the deer decided it didn't like us anymore. The road stayed quiet of other vehicles, but the deer began to edge away from us. I didn't want to frighten the little child deer too much, so I handed the camera to Alice, and we drove away.
There is actually a good sized herd that lives in that forest, but that little one must have decided to try a small adventure of it's own. Hopefully it made it back home safely. City deer like ours seem almost like pets, so they are mostly protected. As long as they stay in their little forest, they're safe.
That's the story of the little deer in Alice's picture. We went home happy with lots of stories to tell. I'm glad I let Alice give everyone the first sighting of the little deer, because I think it was really there for her anyway.

Frozen Fishing Platform
I was actually very tempted to go back to one of my hiking trails, and just walk around enjoying the snowfall. As long as you're dressed warmly, walking in the middle of all that snow can be just as enjoyable as walking in any quiet forest in the warm summertime.
Just one week ago we were experiencing a sort of false spring around here. Everybody hoped it was the real thing, but we all knew it was still way too early. We still have a little over a month before we start to see the first signs of spring around here.
I mentioned last week because I was back out at my new nature park, Carpenter Lake. Unfortunately I didn't have Alice with me this time, but I did get to enjoy the peaceful solitude of the forest. I know that some of you like when I have Alice along, but I can do many more adventurous and dangerous things if she's not there.
That's not to say that I would ever leave her behind if she was with me, but I only see her every few months. I guess it gets hard to leave Wonderland very often when you've chosen to live there permanently. Besides, would you want to leave a place like that for very long?
If you look at the right side of both photos, you can see in the one at the top that the ice on the lake has begun to melt. It was like that all over the park that day. Nobody would foolishly walk out on that lake now. Maybe only something as small as a rabbit would be safe out there.
These photos are just to give you a preview of what I did that day, and I really like the photos very much. Don't worry though, I still have a few last stories of Alice's latest visit for you. I just held them back so I would have them in reserve for you. I guess the most interesting story is what happened to make Alice not want to go back out there the next day.

Alice And The Dragons
Fiction Friday
This post is based on some of the things that happened the last time Alice was with me. Some of it is true, and some of it is not. Alice did see dragons, but the rest is just a story.
She seemed pretty interested in what it was, because when I asked her she didn't seem to hear me for a second. I asked her again and she said to come and take a look. I wasn't sure what I would find, because she has a habit of dragging parts of Wonderland along with her on our trips.
As I got closer, I noticed something big and dark down there. It wasn't moving so I knew I needed to find out what was going on. We had not seen any animals out here yet, so I didn't think it was anything that might be alive.

Carpenter Lake Dam
Today I'm revealing it to you! It's the Carpenter Lake Dam. I have to admit that I don't know how dangerous it would be to be out there, but just for that reason I wouldn't risk it. I don't know what kind of pull the dam would create, if any. So in this case I would respect the signs.
With that, I'll say that I've been looking for a dam for awhile now. I thought I might find one at Newburgh Lake, but it didn't turn out that way so far. When I saw the sign outside this place, I didn't think I would find much. I was very wrong!
I started out on a viewing platform just to the side of the dam. From there you can see a great view of the river. I'll show you some of those things in a few days, after I tell you the story of how Alice and I got these pictures of this dam.
When we got to the platform, we saw a huge wrought iron fence around the dam. We thought that was the end of our journey. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to see the outlet side of the dam.
As I began to look around, I noticed a path next to the fence, and came up with an idea. I told Alice to stay at the platform while I followed the path. I then realized that she didn't want to miss out on any of our adventure, so I unwisely told her she could come along.
I knew this wasn't the smartest thing I was ever going to do. I tested my footing a few times and decided I could make it without much danger. But unlike me, Alice didn't have snow cleats on to protect her from slipping. I had to think of her first. Maybe we shouldn't do this.
Then I had another idea. I told Alice to grab a hold of my coat with both hands, and to stay uphill of me. I knew I wouldn't fall; and if she did, she would fall right into me and be stopped from falling far. This should keep her safe from any danger.
After the snow is gone, and I know what the safety factor is, I'll try going down to where the stream is so I can get some shots from an even better angle. For now, this is pretty good for wintertime and an area covered with snow. It should also show the bravery of one little girl.
For Alice's little friend from Wonderland, if you're reading this story today, this is another example of her adventures. It will show you that your friend Alice is like a superhero. She does things like this all the time. Tell your parents that you want them to take you to places like this, so you can have fun adventures too.
That's my story of the Carpenter Lake Dam. I finally revealed it to you all. I hope you liked it. I hope to show a little more of it tomorrow. Until then...

Icy Carpenter Lake
I'm just kidding. But you did get a little angry, didn't you? Maybe you won't shake, you'll just shiver with cold when you see what I'm about to show you. It's a lake, but not just any lake. It's Carpenter Lake, and it is frozen almost solid.
This lake is where the walkway that I talked about yesterday leads to. It looked like yesterday that it was only built for fun, but it has a good purpose. Most of this walkway is hovering over the top of this lake. It's main purpose is to be a viewing area and a fishing spot.
All of those houses are the main reason that I didn't know that Carpenter Lake, and this nature park existed. I've been driving around here for years, but I never saw this place. I thought it was just another part of that neighborhood. I knew that the woods were here, but I didn't know they made this place.
Towards the front of the picture, there on the ice is what used to be a skating rink that somebody made. You can see some very shiny areas on the ice there. There are also footprints crisscrossing the ice. Those shiny spots are a good indication that it's not safe to walk across this ice anymore.
I really don't know what the trail running through the snow is from. I am guessing it is from a snow shovel. It leads right up to the skating rink. I don't know why they cleared a path in this direction. I was assuming that it was people from the houses that made the rink. Maybe not.
Here at the end of today's slightly obnoxious little story, I'd just like to mention that I still had Alice with me. I haven't forgotten about her, but showing this lake to you didn't really involve her that much. She did have something to say at the time, but that is another story completely.
I promise to tell that one on Friday, because I'm going to put my own little fictional twist on the strange thing she came up with while we were here. I was going to use that one today, but it's a little too strange to be considered anything less than fiction.
Lastly, this lake isn't very big, and it looks like it might be man made. There are several indications of that. One of which I'll be showing you tomorrow. See you then.

My New Play Area
Some of you may have noticed in my Recent Comments section yesterday that Alice's post was invaded by a few escapees from Wonderland. They heard about Alice's recent visits into our world, and they wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Alice's little friends from Wonderland are welcome here anytime.
Anyway, on to something Alice and I saw when we were at my newest hiking trail. As some of you know, not only do I love nature, but I also really love bridges. I mostly like the smaller kind that are just for walking on, but even the bigger ones are cool. I haven't featured nearly enough bridges here.
You can see a little bit of what this place is like in the photos here. I hope they give you an idea of what we saw. It was a sprawling group of wooden and metal paths that go down to the lake. Because of this new structure, I think I finally understand why I like bridges so much.
As most kids have done, I used to play at parks and outside at school. There were sometimes playgrounds with cool things to climb all over and walk on, and just have a good time. I've seen even better play areas today than when I was a kid. But there is nothing like that for adults. Or is there?
You know, this thing even has the same colors as some of the new play areas that they make for children. I now understand that it's not just bridges, but anything you can climb on or just explore that is so much fun. I don't know of anyone who doesn't like these things. Something like this is a great everyday adventure all by itself.
One last thing I want to tell you today. All of the snow you see in these photos has melted by now. The process began on the day Alice and I were at this place. I'll be going back there very soon, and there will be some very different pictures of what the place looks like. I'll have to show photos from both times, because I don't want this adventure to get lost. Some of the things we saw were magical.
I'll be back tomorrow with something to stir your imagination, and shake your very soul!
