My Private River

I finally have it for you! This is what lies at the end of the small path in my hidden secret world. It's this hidden river! I come here to be alone because there is nobody ever here. This is my best place to relax and not have to worry about any interruptions.

Actually I've seen a total of two other people in the many years that I've been coming here. The first person is one that I brought here with me one time. You don't have to be totally alone to be in a special place. You can also share it with a favorite person or even more. And that's why I'm sharing this with all of you.

The other person I saw here was a park official that revealed to me that he also comes out here every six months or so for the same reasons I do. I saw him last spring when this whole area was flooded. This little creek was a raging river then. In fact, the whole park was deeply flooded in many places. He told me that it happens almost every spring.

And here is the reason I had to wait to show you this river. I took the time to bring you this special video. Some of you mentioned in your comments that you liked the sound of running water. Of course I completely agree, so I just had to go to the very best place where I can capture that for you.

This is a very beautiful place, even in the winter time. In the summer it is spectacular. When I first found this place I walked up to the river and I found a deer only a few feet away from me getting a drink of water. It leaped all the way over the river in one jump. I then noticed that there were two others with it.

I felt bad that I interrupted their drink. I guess they consider this place theirs in the same way that I consider it mine. There was no way to get them to come back, so I left soon after. I didn't stay very long that first time, but I stay and explore more each time I come back. Now I stay for very long periods of time. I haven't seen the deer again in this place.

This last picture shows the area of the river where the deer was. It was at the edge of the river between the two groups of fallen trees, on the left side. It jumped across to the right side of the river and ran off into the forest. As I've gained more experience, the deer don't run from me anymore.

Look at the pictures and especially watch the video. The sound of the water is what makes it great. I'll be back here again, and much sooner. When the floods come back in the spring, I'll be back with my camera, and I'll make sure I get video of that too. That's going to really be fun. I love the anticipation it gives me.

The Other World

I crossed the bridge I told you about yesterday, and I was greeted with this other world. There is much more snow in this other world. Most of the snow on my normal trails has melted for now, but these trails still have plenty. This is also in a very dense forest where most people avoid.

This path is very narrow, but I don't think I really captured that very well in the picture. It stays this narrow the whole way. The path stretches on for a very long way. There are many twists and turns, and many diversions along the way. There is one diversion that I just couldn't resist.

You see that sign above? How could I resist a detriment like that. I just had to follow the trail that the sign warns me about. The trail it is trying to scare me away from is a well traveled deer trail. I know because I've seen many deer using it in the past. Unfortunately they weren't using it this day, but I was going to.

I've traveled this trail many times before, and I will again. If you do a little searching on this blog you might be able to find what's at the end of this deer trail. I'm not going to tell you today though because I'll be saving that secret for tomorrow. You'll find out then why I'm waiting. I would have shown it to you today, but YouTube is down for maintenance while I'm writing this.

This is a better look at this deer trail. I really do follow it, but I'm actually not so sure I follow it til the end. I only go part way until I reach my personal destination. The trail veers off to the sides then and continues on out of sight. I'm only interested in one thing. But this is only a diversion today, because I have a bigger destination.

So instead of showing you this, I'll just turn around and head back to the main trail in this other world. It's still very small, but right now I'm headed to what I really came here for. So I had to turn around and go looking for a place where no one else goes. My hidden place. The main section of this other world. I'll be waiting there for you tomorrow.

(Sorry if this post seems like a bit of a teaser. I actually intended to have more for you in this one, but I had very little time today and I was up late trying to write my post, which coincided with a few difficulties. When I attempted to show you what comes next, I got an error because YouTube wasn't cooperating just yet. I waited as long as I could, but I had to get up early. So that part will have to wait until tomorrow. This way I'll be able to show you a little more in these combined two days. So it works out better for us all.)
