Poll Results - What Describes You?

We have reached the end of another poll, and this time the results are going to be nice, unlike last time when I pulled that dirty trick on you. I gotta admit I still get a chuckle out of that one. Uhm... Well, anyway, I'm going to try something a little different than that this time. Let's just see what I've got for you.

This happened to be the most successful poll so far. We had a grand total of 52 votes! It also proved to be one of the closest polls of all too. This is quite understandable because probably a little bit of every choice describes me, and they may have been equally hard for you. We'll need to go through them a bit to see what's what.

Let's see... I asked you, "Which best describes you?" And your answers were...

#6 Hiker - 5 votes (9%) : It's interesting that hiking came in last, especially since hiking is supposed to be a major part of this blog. I guess I really don't talk about actual hiking as much as I do some other things. What's really more important to me anyway are the things I see while I'm hiking.

I also am not even close to the best hiker in the world. My hikes only last a few hours at the most, but that's part of the point here. I am trying to show some of the things that even a beginner can do and see. If I were to hike up the side of a mountain, or something equally as awesome, this blog wouldn't be for beginners.

#5 Reader - 6 votes (11%) : When I first think of it, this one also baffles me. All of us are readers. I'm sure many of you love reading as much as I do. But then on further reflection I completely understand. None of us are just simple readers. We are much more complex than that. We are more active than that. Sure we read, but we put that reading to productive use. We use that creativity that all readers have, and we write and we go and do things. Sure we are readers, but we are all also so much more!

As for me, you won't find me without something to read in my hand or my pocket. I keep an old PDA with me wherever I go. I can fit a whole library of books on that one little device, and I always do! There are so many sources for free books on the internet, and places where you can also buy them. By the way, for any of you who are interested, my favorite by far is the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

#4 Hamburglar - 7 votes (13%) : Wow, hamburglar actually made it to 4th place! It's a widely known secret that I try to put in a ridiculous choice in every poll, and this is obviously it this time. Either several of you were playing along with the fun or you are legitimate hamburglars. But wait, don't most of us have at least a little bit of hamburglar in us?

I myself love a good hamburger more that any kind of meat with bones in it. Maybe it's a generational thing or just the way I was brought up, but I would rather have a hamburger than most other food, except for one thing. Tacos! Yup, I love tacos! They can come in just about any form. Legitimate Mexican food is the best, but I'm willing to eat at even a fast food place if it means having tacos. Is there an equivalent word to hamburglar for that?

#3 Photographer - 8 votes (15%) : Photography is a big part of this blog, so I understand this choice very much. Many of you also use photography to tell your stories. Some of you are mainly photographers and only sometimes use words to help the photos along. Others are like me, and you use the photos to illustrate your stories. Yet still others love both equally. Photography is important to us all, isn't it?

There's perhaps a strange side to this for me. I never used a camera until a few short months before I started this blog. I discovered the fun of photography while on a vacation. I just wanted to reproduce the fun of my vacation every day. I knew that a camera would have to be a major part of that, so I went out and bought the same camera I use today. It's perhaps the best camera that exists for a beginner, and there's plenty of room to grow with it.

#2 Nature Lover - 12 votes (23%) : Now we're getting to the top! Everybody that comes here, including me, loves nature to some extent. I'd say that 99% of my posts talk about nature in some form or another. Even my poll posts like this one mention it. A lot of you come to see my goofy squirrel pictures, or to read my stories of friendly deer or how I describe the sound that the forest makes. Yes, there is a very distinct sound. What it all comes down to is that nature is the main topic here.

Another strange thing relating to the photography section above is that I didn't start here intending to focus so much on nature. I was going to write about different places to go and see in a typical city or town. I wanted to write about it as I discovered it. I started with something familiar to me, which was my nature trails. I still haven't found those other things, but my love of nature has grown maybe one million percent!

#1 Writer - 14 votes (26%) : And finally we come to the winner! I love nature very much, but how do I express that to you? I write about it, of course! And since most of you who actively participate here are also blog owners, most of you would also be writers to some extent. I guess writing has become second nature to most of us, even if it didn't begin that way. Some of you began as writers, and found blogging as a great outlet for your creativity.

That could also describe me. I had so many ideas in my head, but I had very little experience in transferring them down in print. I had to do something that would spur me on. What better way to gain that experience and expose myself to embarrassment than to write a public blog? Writing in public can help develop a very thick skin to help get over any lingering inhibition. I now can write about almost anything without fear or shame.

Okay, there we are! That is my rundown of the poll this time. This was a long one, but I think it was well worth it. What do you think? I'll be back tomorrow with some more nature, some more writing, and a few other things listed above. Don't worry though, there will be no hamburglarizing here, at least publicly.

Update: I almost went back and scrapped this whole post because I became seriously nervous after realizing just how much I talked about myself here. That's funny.  -Tacobandito.

Your Super Power

It's time for the good old poll results again! This time you were asked the question, "Which super power do you want?" A thrilling thought, if you ask me. Most of us want to be super, don't we? You were given six answers to choose from. Let's see which one you picked!

#6 X-Ray Vision - 2 votes (5%) :  Only two of you chose this one. I can't judge why anyone else would want this one, but there used to be ads in the back of comic books where they used to sell glasses that granted this very power. What they advertised was that you could see through many things, including clothing. They didn't work, of course. But what teenage boy wouldn't want that power, even knowing the risks of the glasses being fake? Well this power is not fake. There's one catch though. You can see through everything! That's right, now everyone you see loos like a walking skeleton, and you're stuck like that forever!

#5 None - 3 votes (7%) :  There were five other reasonable choices here! You played this game, but still chose none! You ruined the entire game, so you get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir! (Willy Wonka)

#4 Great Strength - 3 votes (7%) :  Steroids. That's what you need. Just give yourself a shot right in the behind with that stuff, and you'll end up looking like the most muscular professional wrestlers (or baseball players). You'll enjoy fame for a few short years before the side effects of this drug come into play. Then your bones will begin to deteriorate as you have one injury after another. You'll end up having to retire early as your strength goes away and you find that you now have to live out the rest of your life in a wheel chair.

#3 Super Speed - 5 votes (13%) :  Super speed would be a fantastic choice... if you could slow down! You are now moving so fast that all other living things seem to be stopped! You can't talk to them. You can't get them to notice you other than your now irritating voice that is going at such a high rate of speed that it sounds like the buzzing of an insect.

#2 Flight - 11 votes (28%) :  There was once a story about a man named Henry Heinrich. Henry met a strange man in a forest who granted him one wish. Henry decided that he wanted the power of flight,  just like you. Today Henry is living out his life being able to fly wherever and whenever he wants. The strange man turned out to have a bit of a cruel sense of humor because Henry is now living out his life as a goose, just like you.

#1 Invisibility - 14 votes (36%) :  Now for the winner! Most of you chose this one, and you won't leave disappointed! Let's see, how could somebody become invisible? I know of a way! You could become a ghost. A walking spirit stuck on this plane of existence forever. You will see everyone else as the years pass by, but nobody else will ever see you. Oh sure, they might be able to hear your tired and helpless moans of loneliness when there is nobody else around, but they'll never see you. Your only human contact will be when you eavesdrop on random conversations whenever a group of people come anywhere near. That's kind of like when you read a blog without commenting! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Oh, how I love happy endings...

I guess this is what happens with my post when I consult the same strange guy that Henry Heinrich talked to. I asked him for good answers for these choices, but this is the crazy stuff he gave me. I would never give out evil wishes such as these. So you see, it's all his fault. Yup, all his fault.

Poll Results - Ghosts

Here we come to the poll results and the post I promised you earlier in the week. I told you this was going to be something special for Halloween, and I didn't lie. But this won't be at all what you expected! I would be willing to bet that most of you expected some kind of ghost story. Well, I gave you that yesterday. Read on and I will explain just what I have in mind.

First we'll deal with the poll results! This was a close one this time. I asked you the question, "Have you ever seen a ghost?" Let's see what you said...

Yes - 12 votes (44%)
Those of you who said Yes were the clear majority this time. You truly believe that you have seen a ghost. I am with you on this one, but I know none of us can be completely sure when dealing with things like this. A ghost or a spirit is logically thought of as nonsense, unless we see it with our own two eyes. Even when we tell the story, many people will never believe us. I guess even when we see something like this ourselves, we have trouble believing. It's just such a shocking experience.

No - 8 votes (29%)
Several of you say that you have never seen a ghost at all. That could be for various reasons. Maybe you believe the stories of others, but you've just never seen one yourself. Maybe you don't believe in things like this at all; I completely understand. Things like this are very hard to believe if you've never seen them for yourself, even a story from someone you trust very much. And maybe you aren't sure what to believe.

Maybe - 7 votes (25%)
This last one is the trickiest of all. A lot of you voted that you are not sure if you've seen a ghost. Or maybe just that you're not sure if you believe in them? Again, on both accounts, I completely understand. These things can be very mysterious, and it's easy to doubt even your own eyes.

Now that we have discussed the results, I'm going to reveal what I promised that makes this post special. Some of you might enjoy it, and some of you might groan in disappointment. Here it comes! The surprise is that I want your input. If you've seen a ghost, or even if you've seen anything strange at all, then share your story! It can be as long or short as you want.

But wait, there's more! I also want your opinions. If you think it's all nonsense, and there are no ghosts, then you can tell us about it. I, for one, love to be told I'm strange, so go ahead and shoot! This is a friendly place with open minds, so there is no reason to be embarrassed about any opinion you might have. Maybe you think there are no ghosts. Maybe you think they do exist. Maybe you're just not sure. What do you think? Go ahead! In the spirit of Halloween give us all a scare, and share your opinion!

And if you missed it the first time, take a closer look at the picture! Boo!!!

Poll Results - Your Favorite Season

Here it is, time for the results to another thrilling poll by your Everyday Adventurer! This one was a question of time. And it was a question of what time you like. Time passes for all of us. We notice this passage of time in to oddest ways. One day is green. One day is white. One day is brown and red. Some days are combinations of all. But what was your favorite?

The question was put to you, "What is your favorite Season?" I have to tell you that I was not surprised by your answer this time. Considering what time of year it is and other factors, I was not one bit surprised. When I first began visiting my nature parks I never expected to see the fall crowd that came to these places just to see the colors.

Okay, enough of this nonsense. On to the results!

Coming in at last place in your favorite seasons were two choices, Rainy and Dry seasons, with 0 votes (0%). Even though they aren't generally recognized as true seasons, I included these two because some of our friends here live in places that only really experience these seasons. Our four seasons never appear outwardly there.

#4 Winter - 3 votes (11%)
Winter is a wonderful time of year, but I don't blame most of you for not voting for this very cold time of year. It still has its good points. Who wouldn't want the experience of getting to build a snowman at least once in their life? Snow is a very special thing. The only problem here is that winter can be unbearably cold at times. That's always a turn off. Plus the fact that the only real color is white and a dull faded brown.

#3 Summer - 4 votes (15%)
I thought summer would have been a little more popular, but that's before actually remembering the two seasons that beat it. Summer is the time in America when kids don't have to go to school. It's the time when everything is warm and sunny. This may be the time when colder regions of the world become more active. It's also the opposite of winter, and can be very hot at times. Some people like their air conditioners more than the hot summer.

#2 Spring - 7 votes (26%)
I have to say that spring is my personal choice. It's the end of winter, and this is the time of year when the world renews itself. The weather becomes pleasantly warmer. The plants begin to regain their green, and they start to grow again. The animals also come out of their hiding places, and we begin to see the signs of little ones of every kind. I can't personally think of anything bad to say about spring, so I won't.

#1 Fall - 12 (46%)
Fall is your overwhelming choice for favorite time of year! Two thing factored into this one. The first, but also the least reason, is that it is fall right now. The second reason is that whenever any of us think of seasons we think of fall. Fall is the time of year when all of the green of spring and summer seems to catch fire! The trees turn to brilliant shades of orange, red, and yellow.

I think this may be the only season where people from all over the world make time to just enjoy looking at the beautiful colors. Other seasons have their own excellent qualities, but most of us enjoy this one most of all. Fall is the only season that is openly talked about for it's great beauty. That is why it's a clear winner. I knew it would be.

The pictures I've brought to you are what fall looks like right now in the forest closest to me. There is still plenty of green there, but it's quickly turning. I'll bring you more when there is more change. The next poll will be a short one, so be ready! I hope to make it very fun. You'll understand when you see it.

(Last thing. Sorry that I haven't been interacting much in a couple of days. I've been intentionally avoiding anything on the internet but writing a few posts for the past few days so I can get some much needed rest. I'll hopefully be back to my normal routine when I'm home later today.)

Poll Results - What We Met In The Forest

The results of the latest poll are here! For some odd reason this poll seemed to last kind of long this time. I guess maybe it was because I gave it an extra week. I did it because there were so many choices this time. I provided 8 choices, which was the most in any of my polls so far. After two weeks I guess we have the definite answer to this one. Let's see what it happened.

I asked the question, "Which would you like to meet in the forest?" Let's look at the answers a little differently this time by giving a sort of countdown. I'll start with a look at last place, and then move down the list to first place. Maybe it will build a little suspense this time, even though you can see the results on the sidebar.

#8 Ghost - 0 Votes (0%) - Wow, I guess nobody at all likes a little spooky surprise when they're out all alone in a dark and quiet forest. Just think of one of these floating up behind you when you think you're all alone. I guess that's exactly what you didn't want to think about.

#7 Bigfoot - 1 Vote (2%) - There are many names for this creature. Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, Skunk Ape, and many others. There are many theories about this creature. Some people believe it's real while others aren't so sure. What exactly is it? Is it an undiscovered kind of ape? A space alien? Nobody really knows. The only thing everyone agrees on is that it's big and hairy. I guess only one of you likes big and hairy things.

#6 - #4 This one was a three way tie. These three had equal results, so I guess they're equally desirable. By the looks of them, they're also pretty much the same all the way around. Let's see what they are.

#4 - Witch - 2 Votes (5%) - This might be my last choice to meet in the forest, but it wasn't yours. Maybe a couple of you had different thoughts on the kind of witch I'm thinking of. Hansel and Gretel found that gingerbread house with a witch that lived in it while they were lost in the forest. She tried to eat them. Not fun.

#4 - Space Alien - 2 Votes (5%) - The first thing I thought of here when I gave you this choice was an episode of the Simpsons. It's a cartoon, for any of you who don't know. The mean old boss, Mr. Burns, (The boss again!) was all drugged up from a visit to the doctor, and he wandered out into the forest. He glowed green and talked in a high pitched eerie voice saying, "I bring you peace..." He was then mistaken for an alien. Any other alien I can think of would capture you and stick things in places you would definitely not like!

#4 - Your Boss - 2 Votes (5%) -  Two of you actually wanted to meet your boss in the forest. I'm not going to ask you why, but why? I hope you didn't have something evil in mind. I guess it's understandable that your boss would compare so favorably with a witch and a space alien.

#3 - Elf - 5 Votes (12%) - Now we're getting close to the reasonable choices. I understand why you would want to meet an elf in the forest. These may be the closest to humans than any of the others. The only problem is that they have a reputation for being untrustworthy. They might welcome you or they might just try to kill you and use you for tree fertilizer. They still are probably a better choice than the others choices so far.

#2 - Fairy - 13 Votes (33%) - Fairies may be the nicest creature on the list. They actually come in many different shapes and sizes, but I would guess that most of you thought of just one kind. That would be the kind of fairy that's only about the size of a butterfly, with wings that are even prettier. These are some of the most popular mythical creatures on earth, so I completely understand why they got so many votes.

#1 - Tree Spirit - 14 Votes (35%) - I was honestly a little surprised when tree spirit got the most votes. But then as I began to do a little bit of research on them I started to understand. I should have known this answer all along. Unlike all the rest of these choices, tree spirits exist in some form in just about every culture all around the world.

Most of these stories say that a tree spirit either appears as a wise old man or as a beautiful woman. There have been whole religions that have had tree spirits as main figures. Some cultures believe that the spirits of their ancestors either reside in trees or are the trees themselves. Therefore it would be a very bad idea to harm a tree. You wouldn't want to insult or harm your ancestors, would you?

The Green Man is one of the most well known tree spirits. There are stories of the Green Man all over the world. He is usually depicted as a bearded face of a man with greenery all around. A lot of times this would be a tree with the face of a man. The Green Man is usually even more than a normal spirit. He is considered a deity in very many cultures.

And lastly we have dryads or nymphs. These are female tree spirits that represent nature in its purest form. These spirits are often thought of as seductive but possibly dangerous. There are stories of them luring men to either doing very foolish things, or even to their deaths. As long as you respect them and their trees you should be okay.

I know I've only given you a taste of the stories of all of these creatures, but you can find out much more just by doing a search on the web. The research I did this time took me a very long time. I hoped to bring you even more information, but you would be reading this for days if I were to do that. I hope you enjoyed the poll results this time. Now I need to come up with another one.

Poll Results - The Meanest Animal?

Well, another poll is over, and it's time to show you all the results. This time I'll try to do it without picking on all of the voters! I hope this can be as entertaining without that little bit of fun. In return for this wonderful benevolence of mine, I'd like to ask for a few ideas for another poll. I already have some good ones, but it can't hurt to have a few more. Okay, here we go!

"Which is the meanest animal?" That was the question that was asked in this last poll. Unlike last week's poll, which was a virtual dead heat, this one wasn't even close. It was a landslide! The winner(loser?) of this poll actually got more votes than all the rest combined! Let's see just what happened.

We wanted to know which was the meanest animal on my list. The overwhelming pick of the voters was the Goose! Goose came in at #1 with 14 votes (51%). Wow! A lot of you really think geese are mean. I'm not going to argue with the will of the voters this time. In my experience geese are indeed the rowdiest of the bunch on this list.

They often gather in huge gaggles(crowds) and play and fight while making all kinds of noise and generally causing a huge ruckus. I've watched while they chase each other around, attacking and fighting, and sometimes ganging up on a smaller few. They also like to leave their disgusting droppings all over everywhere.

If you feed them, they will even fight over the food, trying to chase each other away while keeping it all for themselves. They are also not above attacking a human if you get too close, and these animals are much stronger than they look. They can seriously hurt with just their wings. If you see one coming at you hissing and stretching its wings, you better get away fast! Okay, on to the next animal.

Coming in at #2 is the Squirrel, with 6 votes (22%). I'm surprised that squirrels didn't do better in the voting here. They can be pretty feisty, and I've had several encounters where they have been very angry with me for seemingly no good reason. Still, they did come in at 2nd.

At a very close #3 in the voting is every human's instinctive nightmare, and the original evil one, the Snake, with 5 votes (18%). I guess I should have specified which kind of snake I meant, but this is good enough. Each kind of snake has its own type of behavior. Some are very passive, like my local garter snakes, and others can be extremely aggressive and mean. You tell me which they are. Maybe cobras?

A surprise #4 is the curious little Chipmunk. It got 2 votes (7%). I have never seen a mean chipmunk myself, but maybe they are indeed out there. I have had a few literally scream at me and then run into the forest. I thought it was funny at the time. It was like the little creature saw a monster or something. Maybe they were just telling me where I could go.

And finally there is a tie for last, #5 and #6, between the Deer and the Caterpillar with 0 votes (0%). None of you thought these creatures could possibly be the least bit mean. With a caterpillar I can completely understand. I don't think they have the brainpower to be anything, much less mean. As for the Deer, I beg to differ!

I have told you many stories of myself being threatened and even charged at by deer. There were two days in a row where I was charged at by a small herd of deer. They were trying to chase me out of the meadow. After showing them that I was bigger than them they backed off. A short time later a woman walked up to me and told me of how that same bunch chased her back into her house so they could eat her flowers from her porch! Zero votes indeed!

Well, that concludes another successful poll for the week. I hope we all had fun with this one! I've been having slightly similar polls the last few times, so a change just might be in order. I might just have to get creative and make the next one something completely unexpected. I hope I'm up for it. Got any ideas of your own?

Poll Results - The Name Of The Chipmunk Is...

The name that you, the great and powerful voters, have chosen for this cute little chipmunk is, get ready for it...   Bob!

There is something I must explain to you. I had a hidden agenda with the poll this time. I've been seeing a lone little chipmunk at the back of this one Nature Preserve for the last few months. I find her in the same little area every time I go. She's a very shy and quiet little girl, so I just didn't know what to call her.

I really thought long and hard about this question, and I just wasn't sure what would be the most appropriate name for this pretty little chipmunk. The only solution was to search far and wide and gather the most intelligent people from the four corners of the earth to help me, and I found you. And the name you decided upon for this little lady was Bob.

Let's break down the voting numbers to see just how it all happened. You were asked, "Which is the best chipmunk name?" You gave your answers, and this one was very close this time. We ended up with 29 votes overall. "Bob" won with 9 votes (31%), and that name led the whole way. "Alvin" came in at 2nd with 8 votes (27%). 3rd place was a tie between "Chica" and "Chip". Each had 5 votes (17%). And coming in at dead last with just 2 votes (6%) was "Cheech".

And now the people have spoken, and this little girl's new name is Bob. Bob Chipmunk. I think she was very excited by this vote, and she really wanted to find out what we would be calling her from now on, because she shyly came out of her hiding place to hear her new name for the very first time, and she heard the name "Bob".

I am very delighted to say that she must have been very pleased with your choice, because as soon as she heard the pronouncement of "Bob" she let out a small squeak and quickly disappeared back into her hiding place. Yes, she must really like that name. You should be proud.

Wait! What did you say? You didn't know that she was a female? Silly humans! You should have taken a closer look before you made your choice. Talk about informed voters...

Poll Results - Talking Squirrels

Well, the most recent poll is now over and you, the mighty voters, have spoken! The question to the poll was, "What would you do if a squirrel talked to you?" One of the choices has come out as the clear winner. Actually, it was a landslide! The other choices weren't even close. So without further ado, I will announce the winner!

The 1st place winner of this poll was, "Talk Back." With a whopping 27 votes, it captured an astonishing 67% of the votes! Most of you must be very social people! It's also the vote I would have chosen myself. In fact, it was exactly what I did when I was faced with this exact question myself. The only problem was that it didn't turn out as well as you might think.

That doesn't mean that you wouldn't become instant friends with a cute furry little squirrel if you were to talk back to it, it just means that it didn't work out so well for me. If you would like to find out the terrible results I had of talking back to a squirrel, go right here to this post to find out the horribly fascinating details!

Now for the runner up! The battle for 2nd place was a fight to the finish, and it ended neck and neck! But finally the choice that took 2nd place was "Give It A Hug", with 15% of the votes, which was 5 votes. Right behind that, in 3rd place, was "Attack It", only down by one vote! It had 4 votes, for 12% of the final votes. Talk about duality!

I'm not sure which group is weirder, those of you who would run up and talk to a strange talking squirrel, or that violent section of you who would try to beat a poor little innocent squirrel to a pulp just because it said hello! Do the voices in your heads tell you to do this? I'm talking to both groups here! What exactly were you thinking? Okay, that's enough of that! I'm obviously just kidding! The duality of these two is very interesting though, don't you think?

Now for 4th place we have the choice of "Run Away". The 2 of you, 5%, who voted to run away were maybe the most sensible of the bunch. Or perhaps they were just the most cowardly? You who voted this way can decide. You only have to answer to yourselves, not to me or anyone else. You shameless cowards you! I'll never think of you the same way again! You're lucky this is an anonymous vote. :D

Now finally there is the choice that came in dead last. Every Presidential race has that one crazy guy who everybody wishes would just go away, and this poll had a similar candidate. Last place goes to "Eat A Bug".  This incoherent choice received absolutely 0% of the votes. That's 0 votes for those of you who were wondering. Did it ever occur to you that eating a bug might help make friends with the squirrel? I didn't think so.

Okay, that's enough of making fun of squirrels for today. And it's certainly enough of making fun of you, the voters. I hope you took it all in good humor. Otherwise I can look forward to a serious drop in visitors to my blog. What shall we choose for the next poll? Maybe it could be one where I ask if you are angry at me for this post about this last poll? Let me know your poll ideas.

The Cutest Poll Results

Mother SquirrelWell, it looks like this week's poll was a close contest. But after the smoke cleared there is definitely a winner! The Squirrels are officially the cutest of these five contestants! They won with 35% of the votes, 11 votes. The ending results seem narrow, but the squirrels lead the whole way!

The squirrels told me that they knew all along they'd win. They claimed to be far superior to any other forest creature. And who could argue their point when you look at the wonderful mother squirrel in the picture here. They will now constantly remind all the others of their greatness. Congratulations to those cute little squirrels. Don't you just love their big bushy tails?

Coming in at Second Place with 29% of the votes, 9 votes, were those lovable little Chipmunks! They have many great qualities of their own, such as those cute stripes down their backs. And how can you forget their insatiable curiosity? That is a very cute quality that at least deserves second place very much!

The leader of the chipmunks kept wondering how it was that the squirrels could possibly win over them. He asked me several times what the squirrels had that they didn't. I simply told him that I didn't really know. He finally decided he would have to investigate this further, and scurried off in search of the squirrels.

At third place were the Deer. They came in with a respectable 19% of the votes, 6 votes. They were the largest animals in this contest, so maybe that factored into their third place finish. Sometimes small and furry wins automatically. The deer have their own good qualities though. Who doesn't love the shyness of that most famous deer, Bambi?

Well, I interviewed the representative of the deer, which by coincidence resembled Bambi very much. She shyly walked over and told me it was okay that not that many of you thought she was cute. She said she really understood. Still, I could see the deep sadness and hurt in her face. She even shed a single tear before she turned and walked back to her place.

Fourth place belongs to the Ducks. They ended up with only 9% of the votes, 3 votes. I'm actually surprised at this one. Ducks seem a little cuter than that to me. Those cute bills that are made to scoop up food, and the way they duck under the water and stick their rear ends up in the air seems so charming.

I tried to interview the only duck that showed up for the contest. Well, the only adult duck. She was a mother with a full group of ducklings in tow. She was completely indifferent to this contest, and she only seemed interested in keeping her young ones in line. When I tried to ask her a question, she just turned her head and swam the other way.

American ToadAnd finally we come to the last contestant of the poll. The Toads came in at 5th place, last. They unexpectedly got 2 votes, which was good for 6% of the final tally. I know! I was surprised they got so many too! I'm trying to come up with a compliment, but I'm at a loss for words. Well, they are pretty good at peeing on people.

I was going to wrap this up right here, but the toad boss insisted that he get equal interview time. I waited while he cleared his throat, and he said in a gravelly voice that this contest was completely unfair. The audacity! He demanded a recount, but I told him to go and croak. He then threatened to give me a bad case of warts, and then hopped away in a huff.

Okay then! That's the end of this weeks Poll Ceremonies. I'd say this was the most successful poll yet here on The Everyday Adventurer. I hope the next one will be just as fun. I'll leave you now with one more picture of one of the winners. Here's another one of the cutest squirrels I have ever seen:

American Koala BearIsn't he just precious?

Evil Bunnies

Well, I've been doing my polls for three weeks now, and some of the results have been surprising. After the first poll, we discovered that the majority of the readers here are female. That was kind of obvious to some of you already. It seems this website is also very popular among Martians though. Hello Mars!

In the second poll I asked what kinds of things you would like to see more of on this blog. By an overwhelming margin you all wanted to see more photos. I'm already way ahead of you. A little known fact is that I bring you an average of about 21 photos per week. That's a lot of pictures to look at. Just think of all of the things I've done to get these photos.

I have to be honest with you now. I personally found those first two polls to be kind of boring. I mean, you already know if you are male or female, or even an invader from Mars. And I obviously already post lots of pictures, and loads of writing to go along with them. So that one might have been kind of unimaginative. But then came the third poll.

I gave you a list of animals and asked you which one was scarier. I could say I was surprised by the results, but I really wasn't. In the past I had written posts about snakes where many of you said how much you hated those slithery creatures. Then when I wrote a post featuring spiders you demonstrated similar thoughts on these creepy crawlies.

The surprising answer was that more of you voted that you thought wolves were scarier than these first two. I didn't expect that. Maybe we'll examine wolves some time in the future. Then there was the last choice in this poll. It was the Evil Bunnies. These horrible creatures won by a landslide! Just by looking at the picture above, I completely understand why.

The only problem I have with the polls far is that not many of you seem to enjoy voting in them. I want have more fun polls as time goes on so more of you will want to vote. I have a few ideas of my own to fix this, but I also want to hear some of yours. Do you have an idea for a poll you'd like to see? Even if your idea is "Ditch the polls because I hate them", your idea is welcome.

Of course all other comments are also welcome. I'd also like to let you know that the white Evil Bunny photo above was not done by me. I don't know who to give credit for this photo, but there is also a video somewhere. So finally, watch out for those evil bunnies. They're everywhere. You don't want to be standing there minding your own business, and then hear a voice behind you that says, "Ehh, What's up Doc?"
