Fall In The Forest

I thought this picture illustrates exactly what it's like out in the forest in the fall. I took so many of these, but after a little review, I really like this one. How can you not fall in love with a place like this?

The first thing you might notice is the huge carpet of fallen leaves on the ground. There are so many different shades of orange here. When I was actually there and walking through these leaves, there was a loud echoing crunch that broke the silence with each step. You can smell the leaves decaying around you, but it's not a bad smell.

Something unique here is the color of the leaves on these trees. There aren't really any reds, oranges, or browns. All of these leaves are yellow. Most places I went here, if the leaves were still on the trees, they were yellow. It must be because of the kind of tree they are. There were also much fewer leaves on the trees. The others were all on the ground. Maybe that's where the other colors went.

Even though there are fewer leaves on the trees, there is a deeper darkness to the forest, that wasn't here before. The shadows stretch on seemingly forever here, because of the angle of the light this time of year. I gives an extra feeling of quiet and solitude that's quite remarkable.

Well, this was maybe a short one today, but it was great part of an even bigger everyday adventure that I had that day. I felt like this was worth putting here by itself. I'm sure you'll agree. Until tomorrow...
