Chipmunk Punk

While I was out hiking on my everyday adventure, I would periodically stop and slowly scan the forest for a few good photos. Sometimes if you just stop and look around at things a little closer, you can find some amazing things.

If I would hear even a small sound I would stop and take a look. Most of the time it would be the sound of the wind blowing through the trees, or a falling branch or something. Sometimes it would be something a little more alive.

Okay, okay, I'm getting to it. It was a cocky little chipmunk that I saw. Most little creatures, including the squirrel we all had fun with a few days ago, would run and hide at the site of any human. But not this little chipmunk punk.

As you can see by the top picture, it headed straight for that old fallen tree. I was hoping I could get a good picture of it, but I figured it would runaway, just like all the rest. Remarkably it had no intention of going anywhere.

Now just to be truthful, that old log wasn't very close to me at all, but little animals that were further away than that have run away in terror most times before. Every one of them was at a perfectly safe distance from me, just as this chipmunk was.

I guess the chipmunk was a little smarter than the rest, or it just wanted to be a star, because it climbed on top of the log and posed like this for at least thirty seconds. It was plenty of time for me to get half a dozen pictures of it. When it finally decided enough was enough, I went on my merry way looking for more fun for The Everyday Adventurer.
