Snow

It snowed here, a lot. In the past week we've now had more snow here than any time since I've lived here. I'm glad my truck has four wheel drive. It makes it so much easier to ride down the roads around here right now with so much snow covering them.

It's also very cold here right now, so I'm not going on any significant adventures. I'll have to wait until it warms up just a little bit. The other day on a trip into town the temperature in the truck said it was -3 degrees Fahrenheit. That's -19 Celsius.

I did my best with these pictures, but I don't think you can really see how much snow we have. I took them at the end of the street in front of my house. I've done several pictures from here in the past. The problem is that the road was plowed, and I took these pictures with my phone. The phone takes excellent pictures, but it makes everything seem kind of small.

I usually like taking pictures at the back of the property, but this year there are several huge wood piles there blocking any good view of a natural setting. You can see one of the smaller piles on the left side of the pictures. My neighbor uses more wood than I do because that's his only means of heating. I'm glad I got my propane furnace fixed.

I keep thinking I need to post a little more often again. I've got several good things lined up, but I've slowed down a bit because I don't know when I'll be back outside because of the deep freeze. I've still been able to get some good stuff from around here. I'm glad I can run back inside when I get too cold.

I'm not sure what I'll have coming up next. I have a couple of good things I did right before it got cold and snowed. I also have some stuff from just today. After all my complaining of seeing no animals, I've actually been seeing just a few lately. We'll see what I feel like writing about next. I'll talk to you later.

  1. Put a few feeders with sunflower seed up and you will see the birds better. I saw a bobcat a week ago. Seeing a few coyotes, hope they stay out of the yard area.

    1. I've tried putting feeders out before but the birds never use them. I think maybe I'm putting them in the wrong places.

  2. Glad you got snow. It's not fair if the rest of us did, and you did not!

    1. I kind of hope that's all I'll get. It used to snow a lot before I got here.

  3. It's been an especially harsh winter for a lot of the U.S. (but not us here in the southwest). It makes for some pretty photos, though!

    1. I sometimes think it would be nice to only see snow in photos. But I do enjoy going out in the snow sometimes too.

  4. We've had the snow and cold temperatures but you've got us beat with that -3. We have been in the single digits

    1. We haven't really been getting the snow until now, but we sure do get the cold. It never got this cold when I lived near Detroit.
