It Happens Every Time

I found these very tiny blue flowers the other day, and I thought they would be a perfect subject to write a post about. So I got my camera out and prepared it to get a perfect shot. There was one problem though.

Every time I tried to get these flowers into focus, it didn't work. Argh!! This is what has been happening to me every time I try to get a macro shot. I try all sorts of different camera modes that never work. I tried the macro setting first. Then I tried manual focus, but I can't see well enough for that to help.

After awhile I got everything into focus but these tiny flowers. You can see all sorts of plants and weeds, and even gravel, as clear as day in this picture, but my subject was completely out of focus. Sometimes I just take as many pictures as I can and hope for the best, but that never works in these situations.

So what did I finally decide to do? I decided to post my best pictures on the internet and whine about it to anyone who would listen. Hah! That'll teach those rotten flowers. I will say that I've never been known to always post the greatest pictures. The story's the thing.

Not to worry though. I have other posts coming with better flower pictures. Maybe not the best, but they're certainly better than these. I just like to show what really happens when a person is out taking pictures. Sometimes things just don't turn out perfectly.

One of these days I might lean my lesson and only post the best pictures, but then again, I doubt it. These are sometimes just as fun, especially if you get a little of the story behind them. Real is better. And I guess that's enough. I'll talk to you later.

  1. The focus on macro can be temperamental sometimes. My human will back off the shot until the subject she wants is in focus and then crop the photo closer in on it. It works pretty well for blog photos since the resolution isn't as crucial.

    1. I should have tried to take the pictures from different distances. That's the one thing I forgot.

  2. the story is the thing and the best one :) one of the reasons i could not work with LCD is because i have very poor vision too, in fact, even if i use the viewfinder of the camera, with macro, i still find it very stressful for my eyes to focus. i tried getting pictures with my prescription eyeglasses though, i am not comfortable with it, but it helped me so far get the pictures I wanted, so, it's really sadly my aging vision :(

    1. Vision problems really aren't fun, are they? I couldn't see this at all through the LCD screen.

  4. Been there, done that, got the pix to prove it. Oh no I don't. I deleted the evidence.

Here's a hint don't zoom in when using the macro mode. Lean in instead. At least that's what works on my camera. Hope you find the key to this problem.

    1. I had to remind myself not to zoom in when I took these shots. I wish that were enough.

  5. I have the same problem when wanting to get close ups of my plants Ratty...the camera really should learn to know which bit you want it to focus on!! OK, rant over. I thought the pictures were lovely anyway!!

    1. My camera always seems to focus on the things I don't want. I wish it was more cooperative.

    1. I'm hoping my next camera will be good at macros. The one I'm looking at seems to have a really good lens.

  7. The main thing is that you keep posting. I'm not so great at macros but I keep trying.

    1. The posts and the stories are the really important things, but maybe I can improve my pictures along the way while I'm at it.
