The Three Deer

I left you yesterday after taunting you evilly with this cliffhanger about seeing these three white-tailed deer. I'll tell you right off the bat that this is the final post about this particular incident. It was fun when it happened and this gives me a good chance of sharing these extra pictures with you.

After that first deer faded back behind the trees, the other two decided they wanted their chance to get on camera too. They both tentatively came out to have a look at the giant Ratty with the camera. I didn't want to disappoint either of them, so I stood my ground while they each got an eye full.

The younger of the three wasn't even full grown yet, and it seemed to be the most curious one of the three. It actually wandered several steps toward me. It was periodically munching on some of the vegetation along the way. It seemed completely unconcerned by my presence. It still seemed interested in watching me though.

After a little while these deer got bored with me and decided to turn around and go about their business of finding a mid-morning snack. They didn't run away and hide, but they did wander off a bit. It made it a little more difficult to get any decent pictures of them with so many trees in the way.

After it became apparent to me that I just wasn't that interesting to these deer anymore, I decided to turn back toward the trail. I was now headed for the back of the park to find more adventures. I would really have liked to stay and become part of the herd, but I guess the deer thought I just wasn't good enough. Oh well, there's always next time.

I want to give you a little bit of an update here on The Everyday Adventurer. I don't know how many of you have noticed that I've been a bit behind on things here lately. Unfortunately several boring outside circumstances have been taking up a lot of my time. Most aren't anything I want to be too specific about, I just wanted to acknowledge things.

I think I'm close to getting a few of these things under control now, so I hope to be catching up with things here soon. It seems problems have a habit of piling up though. When one thing becomes big, another jumps in to make it worse. I think I'm seeing an end to a few major pains now though.

On top of all that have been problems with this blog. These are problems I've created myself. I've been trying to improve a few things here, but I'm hitting a few snags. I wanted to change the commenting system to something that I like more than the default Blogger system. Every other system I've tried has flaws that I do not want, so for now I'll stick with the Blogger method of doing the comments.

There are a few other little things, but I'll save them for another time. This is a nature sight after all, but I still like to sneak in some computer stuff every once in awhile. Okay, enough for today. I'll be back tomorrow with something fun.

  4. "Unfortunately several boring outside circumstances have been taking up a lot of my time". Other than sigh, it is still sigh again. Thinking of controlling them, somehow we have been contolled by them finally.

  5. Nice deer! I'm thinking you are working on the plumbing at your house. That's how any plumbing project I've ever done went... one thing piles on top of another!

We miss your interaction! Hope all is well soon.

  12. Seems like you and I are in the same situation...I have been too busy to read or post as often as I would like over the last few weeks...thus I am just getting to comment on your post now.
If you can come up with a better comment system than these or the popup I am using, I would LOVE to hear about it and "borrow it"...many of these systems take too long to load up or use.
Love all your deer photos. I love seeing deer in the woods...but I am still after my elusive moose up here.
