A New Sky

I've been doing some more photo editing because it's been a little too hot around here for me to get out lately. I still get dizzy much too easily, and the heat doesn't help that at all. So I've had a lot of time to work on my photo editing, and I like what I've been able to do.

The picture above is the result of a few changes. I first brightened it up and deepened the features of the land a little bit. This made the place look like it really did while I was there taking the pictures.

But the big edit was the sky. I took out the original sky and replaced it with a new one. This new sky makes the picture really stand out now. You can see the original picture with the original sky below. It really only took a few small steps to change this once I learned how.

Now we have the original picture. It really looks kind of barren and dull after seeing the fixed up version, doesn't it? I didn't make a work of art or anything, but I think I improved it a little bit. I've been learning how to replace many things in my pictures, including whole people. It's been fun.

It really has been fun trying to see just what I can change in my pictures, and it gives a whole new life to my large archive. You might want to try a little photo editing if you ever get the time.

  1. I like what you did with the photo Ratty. The original is very nice too. On hot days it's good to find something to do where it's cooler.

  2. The sky you created is wonderful......Mother nature often gives us views such as these but they are so hard to capture...and although they say the camera never lies I often find when I have taken a picture due to lighting it is never as spectacular as what I saw with my own eyes. A wonderful edit Ratty

  3. My human is getting spoiled with all the stuff she can do with Photoshop and Perfect Photo Suite - the photos that come out of her camera look so drab now! And sometimes she does something fun. She has something planned for 4th of July for my blog which is simple to do and pretty cool!

  4. The clouds have really given the photo a greater sense of perspective.

  5. The edited photo gives such a dramatic feel to the scenery. I like it. I am glad you enjoy editing. It is so much fun to see the transformation, isn't it?

  6. The sky looks nice, I try to just show blue.I like the clouds, but why did you take the shot in the first place? Perhaps bring in the landscape more and less of the cloudless blue.Lovely area

  8. You did a great job Ratty! That's my specialty. Taking people out of pictures or adding them or moving them around. But I don't do it much any more. It's fun though. I guess they have a faster way of doing all that now, with all the fancy software. Took me a lot of time erasing and layering. I only have PSP. I think that's what you have too if I remember correctly. So I appreciate all the work that goes into it. Have a nice 4th! Take care. I stay inside when it's hot also. I can't take the heat. Never could.

  11. wow, a friend of mine before showed me how to do this, but despite her explanation, i could not make it such as changing the sky, you did a great job, not overly done to change nature entirely like what i see from others editing.

    1. I'm using a free program called Gimp. It's very similar to Photoshop. You can easily find it by doing a Google search. I have found that I like it better than Photoshop for my own use.
