Frost On The Window

It's down to 1 degree Fahrenheit outside as I write this post. I've been out there several times to fill my wood stove. It didn't really feel very cold until the wind began to blow hard. I had to force Isabella to come back in because she wants to stay out there and bark at every little sound.

She usually doesn't like the cold very much, but she wants to be outside for some reason right now. Maybe that's because just a few short days ago the temperature was springtime warm. She enjoyed laying out there sunning herself. Maybe she misses that now and she's hoping this is just a trick.

The window in the outside front door keeps frosting over for some reason. Maybe it needs to be cleaned. Maybe Jack Frost is drawing his frozen graffiti on my door because he's trying to get us to come out and play. I don't want to play with him because he's a cheater.

I've seen other people share some excellent pictures of window frost so I thought I'd give it a try. Mine are probably not quite as good as some, but it's my first try. And besides, I'm not the real artist of these patterns. Jack will share with me what he wants to share, so I have to use what he gives me to work with.

It actually feels colder in Michigan than it does here because of the lakes and the Detroit River.

  3. I hope everyone clicks on the pictures you have. The detail in the larger pictures show the delicate leaf-like patterns of the frost.

I wish I could have gotten the detail even better but my camera has trouble with these close up shots sometimes.

The humidity from the lakes makes these temperatures feel colder in Michigan. I hear this cold is moving your way. Spring can't get here soon enough.

I used to wonder the same thing. My mom used to tell us that we were smearing up the glass.

I took these after remembering some you did awhile back. I've always thought it was such a cool thing to do after I saw yours.

My dog Isabella has been staying inside against the cold too now. She still likes her walks outside, but nothing else.

But Wikimedia stops me from understanding him more for this time.

  11. Your photos are pretty! I love to see the ice crystals--they are so lovely, aren't they?

Hobbes is still going outside even though it has gotten colder. He just can't stand being inside--he is so BORED! Poor guy. He is like Isabella--he is confused by the warm weather one day and cold the next.

I love the ice crystals too. I could stare at them all day.

Isabella still loves going outside too, but she has now decided that she only wants to go outside if I have her leash with me.

You'll see Jack Frost there one day.
I believe that Atkins and the other low carb diets are our natural way of eating. We need some carbohydrates, but not as much as we are given today. The reason we are given so much is because carbohydrate filled food is easy to store.

  13. Frost patterns are always things of beauty! You must have gotten some of that cold Arctic air that just missed us here. We're getting the snow now though: it's wonderful!

  18. I had frost like that on my bedroom window this morning. It must be the damp air from yesterday that caused it. It was 7 degrees at 7am. Going to get up in the 20's today. The sun is shining anyway. I never thought to take a picture of the frost on the window but I did take some of it outside. Stay warm.

  21. The frost crystals are beautiful...no such thing as frost here at Sahar Village in Mumbai though folks are saying there is a "cold" spell....it was down to 51 degrees the other morning which is a little cool for this city on the Arabian Sea.
