Up In The Sky

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... the moon? Well it ain't Superman. And it's actually two birds.

I took these pictures last Saturday, and today I figured they would be something a little different before I begin my journey on my new found nature trail. The weather forecast for today is rain, but I hope I can sneak in before that happens. At least that means that it will be warmer than it has been.

Anyway, this first photo is from Sumac Pointe. I was taking more pictures of the horses, when a good sized flock of geese flew right over me. I wasn't ready for them at all. All I got was this one blurry shot of these last two stragglers. I fixed it up on the computer a bit, but it didn't help much. I did get some great new photos of the horses!

Well, after this episode with the geese, I finally decided to read a little bit about my camera. I learned how to take multiple shots quickly one right after the other. I learned how to take timed and delayed shots. I also am learning how to get better closeup shots. I haven't actually tried that last one yet.

This next one was taken from the dam trail that I showed you the other day with my other new discoveries. The dam trail was long and straight without very much else on it, so I began to look at other things. I would have continued this bad joke, but this plane wasn't part of the trail or the dam.

You can't really see the plane that well, but you can see the routine streak in the sky that most of us now identify with a plane. I wonder what primitive cultures who don't know about them think they're seeing. Are there even people like that who exist anymore today?

I took this photo just for them, so they can get on their computers, log on to the internet, and see what that thing flying overhead really is. They do have computers, don't they? I mean really, everyone has one now, right? If I do, then so does everyone else!

Here's the last dam picture. Really, I took this one from the dam trail too. You know, that trail that's on the dam that forms Newburgh lake. The word is spelled correctly and everything! The other word you might have been thinking about is spelled with an extra n at the end. See, I know what I'm talking about, because I have the internet!

Actually, I just wanted a good picture of a crescent moon in the daylight. The moon has been out in the day an awful lot around here lately for some reason. It was even out yesterday, but I didn't bother trying for a photo. I already had what I wanted.

Okay, that's it for today. I know this post was a little strange. That's what happens when you start a fictional war with evil jerkweeds. I'm just suffering from a little shell shock, that's all. Or is that pod shock?

  1. We have stories down on the ground; we have stories up in the sky as well.

  2. Ok, you aren't smoking the jerkweed at this point are you? Are we going to have to do a dam (yes, with no "N" at the end) intervention????

  4. Rainfield - Yes it is, but I want one of those golden eggs. Ground and sky, I'm not sure where else I can go now. You have gone underground recently, so maybe I'll look there some time. There must be a cave around here somewhere.:)

  6. VaBookworm - I'm lost too. That's why I wrote this strange post today. The camera I use is a Canon Powershot A590 IS. It's not a camera for professionals, but it's close to it, and can be made better with addons. Here's a link to a post I wrote about it with a picture: My Camera
