My Honest Scrap Award

The Retired One, from The Retirement Chronicles informed me that I have won the "Honest Scrap Award". I'd like to thank her, because it's a great honor that she thought of me for this award. Visit her site. Here is a link to her post: My First!!!!!

Here are the rules for the Honest Scrap award:

The honorees are to:

A) List 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep!

B) Pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

Ten Honest things about Me:
  1. Dogs are my favorite animals.
  2. I am left handed.
  3. I love Mexican food.
  4. I had one of the very first home computers.
  5. I love practical jokes.
  6. I have built over two dozen computers, for fun.
  7. Music is one of my favorite things.
  8. Of course, I am a nature lover.
  9. I watch pro wrestling on TV, and you should too.
  10. I read constantly, and I love books.

That's my ten honest things about me. They're short but I have revealed a lot about myself in the last two weeks, and it's so hard for me to do it that I'm shaking as I write this. I've been stretched to my limit. I may go run and hide if this keeps up. What did you expect, I'm a mouse!

Now for the next part. I played a game called "Tag" less than a week ago. The people I tagged all took it well and did their best, even the ones who chose not to play. I thank them all. It was really my excuse to put a link to each of them up anyway, and that's what I'm going to do here.

I'm not going to ask anyone to participate this time, but if you want to participate I'll be honored if you do. If you do it, let me know in my comments section so I won't forget to comment on yours. Whatever you do, this award is for all of you on this next list. Every single one of you deserve it. I'm greatly honored to know all of you. There are a few more of you that I'm getting to know, and I'm sure you'll be on the next list.

My Seven Award Winners (This one goes to eleven):
  1. WiseAcre
  2. Rose
  3. A.J.
  4. Rainfield
  5. Kruel
  6. Jodapoet
  7. Sharkbytes
  8. Betchai
  9. Steve
  10. Scott
  11. John
Well, I broke the rules a bit, and added a few more. But how do I choose between them? I couldn't, and I won't try. There are some great sites on this list, as well as great people. You'd do well to add any one of them to your list of friends. Start by visiting some of their sites and leaving a good comment.

That's the end of my Honest Scrap Awards section of this post. Since I don't have another post ready for today, I'm going to give you all some more photos from last summer just below this. Let's continue with our winter break for just one more day.

Enough of the words, on to the pictures.

Boarded Walkway
Peaceful River

That's it for the summer dreaming for a little while. And I managed to stay silent throughout the photos. I'll be back tomorrow, and this time I'll make winter look cool.

  1. You are more than welcome. And thanks for telling us more about yourself. See, that didn't hurt (much) did it? The first step is always to admit you have a problem. haha

  3. The Retired One - It doesn't hurt, but it does give me a bad case of the shakes.:)

Kruel - You only have to play if you want to, but the award is still yours. You deserve an award for your great blogs.:)

  5. Thanks, Betchai. You only have to make a post if you want to do it. The award is still yours even if you don't, because you deserve it very much. Even though I was very grateful for the award, I didn't ask anyone else because I already did the tag post a week ago.

  6. You will pay for tagging me again ;-) But meanwhile, can you beat a Timex 64? I actually still have it- maybe I can open a museum.

  7. Sharkbytes, when was the Timex 64 released? I had an old TRS-80 Model I, the oldest version. It was released in 1977. My dad bought it used. You can see it here:
    http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=409

I also had a Timex Sinclair 1000. It was released in 1982. I got it free with a TV. You can see that one here:
    http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=477

I loved both of those computers, but they didn't do very much. The Timex came with a few games. I don't have either one , because they were both lost in a house fire about 18 years ago.

  8. Hi- I'm sitting here facing this award, and not sure I can play this time. I don't know enough bloggers well enough to tag 7 people. None of the people I tagged just a few days ago were willing to play.

Yes, I had the Sinclair 1000, but bought the 64K RAM add-on. ooooooh... big memory block. I programmed it to do a bunch of stuff that people said were beyond it- a name & address data base, simple accounting, and I actually wrote a really basic word processor for it. Biggest headache was loading programs off of tape.

You win, with the TRS 80. I moved up to a Sanyo 880, which I loved... programmed a ton of stuff for that.

Now if I can find the pics I'm looking for I have a fun entry for my blog today.

Thanks for the award, but I think I'll have to pass this time (I just revealed a big fact in this post though)

  9. Sharkbytes - You don't have to play it if you don't want to, but the award is still yours. I knew two of these type of things in as many weeks was probably a little too much for most people, that's why I didn't ask you in your comments section. I wasn't as clear as I thought I was about it in the post. I posted your names mostly to honor some of my top commenters. I think most people go and hide when they're called upon to do these things, I did for a short while the first time I played. So please don't feel obligated to do it.:)

Back when I got my Sinclair 1000, it had already stopped selling. I got the 64k ram for free too. I was still a kid back then, so I wanted it mostly for the games.

I didn't program anything on the Timex, but I did program a few simple games on the TRS-80. It wasn't easy, because it really wasn't made to do much at all.

Like I said, I really never meant for anyone to feel like they had to do this award post. I told that to The Retired One when I did mine. We just got finished with the Tag thing, and I knew it was too much for most of you to do it again. I still want you to have the Award though. I think the one I got it from would agree.:)

  10. Oho- so now I know about how old you are (which makes me wonder why you have time to do this blog). Well, I was no kid when I got it. Here's another fact that's also a riddle for you. I'll be mightily impressed if you can figure it out. The first computer language I learned to code was CORC. Do you know what that stands for?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh, pooh... a simple Google search will give you the answer. Ain't the internet a wondrous thing?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sharkbytes - I left that age clue on purpose to see if anyone got it. I've been doing things like that since I started this blog. As far as time to do the blog, it isn't easy. Whenever I'm home I'm near the computer. It also doubles as my TV. In reality, my time on here is actually a little deceptive. I am usually doing several things at once; here and away.

CORC stands for Cornell Compiler. I didn't need to do a Google search to get that one. I searched Wikipedia instead.:D
